Young scholars workshop. Politics in Academia: On the (im)possibility of activist scholarship and scholarly activism. In this interactive session senior and junior address challenges that arise when academics are overtly politically normative in their research and dissemination, including institutional and societal reactions and hands-on engagement with social and political practice.
DigAct workshop. This session inaugurates the DigAct network (Digital Activism in China, Scandinavia and USA) that brings together American, Chinese and Scandinavian scholars of a vivid and striving field at the intersection of media and communication studies, sociology, cultural studies and political science focusing on the role of digital media and its most important predecessors for political mobilization and organization.
Civic Engagement and Social Media book launch. In this session the contributors to the book Civic Engagement and Social Media. Political Participation Beyond Protest present cases of civic engagement in relation to business and society.
